I first encountered this amazing word the other day. The definition of xenacious is “yearning for change”.
Preparing my internal environment
Whenever I desire to make any changes in my life, the first place I always look is within myself. I identify what changes I need to make in my internal environment to support the changes I wish to bring about in my external environment.
Some questions I ask myself include:
“Am I mentally prepared for this change?”
“Do I have any thought patterns or beliefs that are in opposition to my desires?”
At the time, the only changes I needed to make were simply making space and time in my life. I slowed down and decluttered my mind to make space. I regularly spent time doing nothing to become still. Being in this state enabled me to learn more about the specifics of the transformation I desired.
Establishing a foundation for change
One particular area of my life that I knew I needed to look at was the foundation of my day – my morning routine. Your morning routine sets you up for the day. If you start the day feeling positive and on top of things, that is likely to continue for the rest of the day.
For some time, I wasn’t as enthusiastic to jump out of bed as I used to be. I certainly wasn’t starting the day feeling positive and on top of things. I had put this down to me becoming lazy. To identify whether this was the case, I changed things up. Instead of getting up at 5.30 am and doing a 90-minute Kundalini yoga class, I started getting up slightly later and doing a shorter Vinyasa yoga class. Instead of doing meditation or chanting a mantra, I sang a mantra. Singing is one of the things I most enjoy, however, it was something that I no longer did. To complete my routine, I’d have an aromatherapy shower using oils that promote feelings of positivity and listened to a motivational podcast whilst getting ready.
A few days into my new routine I started looking forward to my morning routine once again. Yoga helped me feel better in myself. Singing made me feel happy. The motivational podcasts provided me with the drive and inspiration I needed to keep me on track with my dreams and goals and bring about the changes I desire.
The issue wasn’t that I had become lazy. I’d become bored of my routine. The solution was to simply break out of my routine and introduce more things into my day that brought me joy.
Making space in my life
The next area I worked on was clearing my living space. My home had become cluttered with things I was holding onto, in the belief that one day I may need them. I began by moving furniture around and having a huge clear-out, letting go of what I no longer needed.
I now feel much happier in my environment. The space feels new, clean and revitalised, making it the perfect environment for new energy and experiences to enter my life.
Another thing I’m considering is applying Feng Shui to my home. I have felt inspired to do this for the last couple of weeks. I first did this back in 2012 and experienced some very positive results. Plus, my home looked great! (Let me know in the comments if you’ve used Feng Shui in your home!)
The desire for more
As I began making small changes I realised that I wanted more. Some areas of my life have remained the same for almost a decade. This wouldn’t be an issue if I was happy with where I was at. For quite some time now, I’ve known that I’ve outgrown certain things, however, I chose to stay because it was safe and comfortable. I’ve reached the point where I can no longer sacrifice my dreams for the safety of my comfort zone.
Sometimes, it gets to a point where the yearning for change becomes so strong that you have no choice but to take action.
I haven’t yet decided what area I’m looking at next, but the one thing I know for sure is that I desire to experience major transformation across ALL areas of my life!

Are you xenacious? What changes would you like to bring about in your life? Have you gone through an experience similar to mine? Let me know in the comments below!
P.S. I’m completely revamping the Journey to Love social media pages and will be sharing new types of content soon!
Love,
